Evangelism Renowned pastor Bailey Smith will preach at the Cherokee Evangelism Conference Jan 14-17. The conference will be hosted by FBC Rusk in it new facilities at 372 E. 4th (Loop 62). Sunday, Jan. 14 services will be at 11a.m. and 6:30p.m. Monday – Wednesday services will be at noon lunch and 7 p.m. Smith -- as a pastor -- has led more people to Christ than any other Southern Baptist, Pastor in an equal period of time in the history of the Southern Baptist Convention., according to the Dogwood Trails Baptist Area. He has baptized 2,000 people in a local church in one year. He was the youngest man ever to serve as President of the Southern Baptist Convention. He served as president of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Oklahoma Baptist Convention simultaneously. One million dollars has been given to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest North Carolina to establish the Bailey Smith chair of Evangelism. He is the author of “Real Evangelism,” “Taking Back the Gospel,” “Real Christianity,” “Real Christian Excellence,” and “The Grace Escape.” Other preachers for the conference are Don Harms, and Bob Pittman. Don Harms is pastor of FBC Porter, a fast growing church on I-59 in North Houston; Bob Pittman is pastor of Kirby Woods Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. He is Dean of Adrian Rogers’s Center of Preaching at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. A special youth pizza blast will be held Monday, January 15th at 6p.m. with Justin Todd Herod singing and preaching. Justin has been nominated for the CCMA Awards as well as Musician of the Year and Music Evangelist of the Year. Other special music includes: The Jim Bob Griffin Family and Terry and Connie Easley each night, Friendly Baptist church choir on Monday night, Singing Men of East Texas on Tuesday night, First Baptist church of Porter choir and orchestra on Wednesday night. David Darst of Hilltop Alto will lead music for noon services. Don Cass, Evangelism Director of Southern Baptist of Texas Convention will speak at Noon services on Wednesday. Everyone is invited.
