Discovery Science Place plays host to holiday camps

Let them experience the fun of Holiday Camp Discovery.

Due to increased demand, Camp Discovery 2006 offers an extended schedule during the winter break.

Kids can experience courses like, "Chocolate Touch," "Peek at a Pond," "Techno Hide and Seek," and many more.

Holiday camps will begin Dec. 21 and run weekdays through Jan. 5.

These camps are complete in one day to accommodate your busy schedules.

Kids begin their sessions at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. with a one hour supervised lunch break.

Camps are for children Kindergarten through first grade, second grade through third grade, and fourth grade through sixth grade. As an extra bonus, we will have half-day camps for three and four year olds.

The fee is an affordable $30 per full day ($38 with a camp t-shirt) or $20 per half day.

Registration is limited with payment securing your child's space in the class.

Camps are a great alternative to daycare or babysitters and the kids get to have a blast while learning a thing or two.

Discovery Science Place is a non-profit, hands-on learning environment whose purpose is to open young

minds to science, technology, math and cultures in order to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Located at 308 N. Broadway Ave. in downtown Tyler, it is supported by grants, donations, admissions, memberships and special events.

In fiscal year 2003-2004, Discovery Science Place welcomed 50,681 visitors representing a 28 county service area.

The facilities consist of a 20,000 square feet museum with two exhibit halls and a third set to open in the fall of 2005, a Wet Lab Activity Center, Discovery Classroom with lighted stage and Cabe Foundation Classroom.
