And it shows that Bullard residents could get up to $97,638.73. A more expansive list is available online at www.window. state.tx.us/up, or by calling 800-654-3463. There is a limit of three searches when calling by phone. Recent figures from the comptroller's office show more than $4.2 million in unclaimed property belonging to people and businesses whose last known addresses are in Smith County. There is more than $1.5 billion statewide. While the comptroller publishes a smaller version of the yearly list of people with unclaimed property, the online database is more expansive because it includes lists from previous years. There is no time limit for claiming property held by the state. Unclaimed property can be any financial asset that appears to have been abandoned by the owner for more than one year, according to the comptroller's Web site. Some examples include checks, stocks, mutual fund accounts, bonds, utility deposits, other refunds, bank accounts, safe deposit box contents, insurance proceeds, mineral interest or royalty payments, court deposits, trust funds and escrow accounts. The comptroller published a new list of nameson Oct. 15. There is no time limit for making claims against the property, and there are still hundreds of people with Smith County addresses who have yet to make claims.
