ETGS to hold annual Christmas luncheon East Texas Genealogical Society will hold it annual Christmas party luncheon and officer installation at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 9 at Tyler Public Library in the Taylor Auditorium. Luncheon will be potluck brought by society members. Officers installed will be: 1st Vice President - Scott Fitzgerald, 2nd Vice President - Pat Reece Galloway, Recording Secretary - Sam Kidd, Corresponding Secretary - Dixie Flick, Treasurer - Caryn Giesler, Editor of "The Bulletin" - Janice Cox Brown, Editor of "East Texas Family Records" - Scott Fitzgerald, Director of Computer Interest Group - Frances Bishop Grochowski, Director of Marketing & Sales - Mary Beth Rammage, and 2009 Directors - Jessie Files and Michael J. Vaughn. ETGS recently participated in the Texas State Genealogical Society's annual conference and writing awards in Fort Worth. ETGS won a 1st place award for our newsletter "The Bulletin." ETGS won a 1st place award for quarterly "East Texas Family Records." ETGS also won a 1st place award for its newest book "Abstracts of the Probate Files and Records Found in Rusk County, Texas 1843-1878" compiled by John R. Dulin. ETGS also won a 2nd place award for our society's website. Webmaster Lawrence E. Oliver maintains it. ETGS will be the local host next year when the Texas State Genealogical Society comes back to Tyler for their annual conference. Everyone is invited to join us for our end of year party.
