Brook Hill to face Rockwall in district playoff
By Don Wallace

After months of preparation, practice and perspiration the Brook Hill season comes down to one game.

The Guard hosts Rockwall Christian School at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at Herrington Stadium. Hanging in balance is a district playoff berth. Both teams are members of the TAPPS Division IV, Division 2 football district.

"It's pretty simple, if we beat Rockwall Christian we are the district champions," Brook Hill head football coach Paul Johnston said.

The Brook Hill squad could even make the playoffs with a loss, depending on other district outcomes. A Brook Hill win could

also secure home field advantage for the Guard for the first round of the playoffs.

The friendly confines of Herrington Stadium are much more appealing to the players than a road playoff tilt.

Johnston said, "Having a home playoff game is a big incentive for us. We want home field, if not we will probably be traveling in the Fort Worth area."

Johnston also hopes this team is full strength for the most important game of the year.

Linebacker Luke Beekman was has been sidelined with a back injury is expected to play as are offense linemen Heath Dickey and Christopher Brehmer. Dickey and Brehmer have been playing with hand/wrist injuries.

"Our goal is to have everybody ready for the Rockwall game," Johnston said. "We know how big the game is for us."

Johnston said the team has been doing strength and conditioning drills. The Guard is bolstered with confidence after winning their other district game by a 48-21 score over Frisco Legacy.

Johnston added, "We lost to Rockwall at their place last year.

"We know they are a good team. They have played a really difficult schedule.

"They've lost to some good teams and they had key players hurt. They are like us, they are getting healthy at the end of the season."
