J'ville College to present new drama On Nov. 16, 17 and 18, the Theater Program at Jacksonville College will present J. B. Priestley's drama, "An Inspector Calls." This production is a psychological study of a family whose money and position have become more important to them than their humanity or the feelings of others. Their lack of concern for other people eventually ends in the destruction of the family. Underlying the whole story is an air of mystery and unreality. Performances will be held at Buckner Chapel at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There will be a Saturday matinee beginning at 2:30 p.m. "An Inspector Calls" takes place in the home of the wealthy Birling family in an industrial town in the northeast United States. Set in 1922, the play begins with a celebration of the upcoming marriage of the family's daughter Sheila to the son of a wealthy industrial family, the Crofts. This happy family gathering is interrupted by the arrival of a mysterious police inspector who has come to investigate the suicide of a beautiful young shop girl, Eva Smith. Who is responsible? Why are the police investigating a suicide? Who is the inspector? Is he real? The cast for this show is comprised of Levi Cain as the father Arthur Birling; Rebekah Morgan as the mother, Sybil Birling; Megan Cumbee as the daughter Sheila; Christian Lawrence as the son Eric; Daniel Toole as the fianc Gerald Croft; and, Matt Virgel as Inspector Goole. The production is under the direction of Evelyn James, M.A. Technical crews include Stage Manager Amy Sherman, Assistant Stage Manager Kayla Yazell, Lighting Designer, Daniel Heron, Sound Designer Jamie Newburn, and House Manager Ashley Bentley. Other crew members include Ryan Burkhart, Candice Dillon, Derrick Ellis, Kari Ferguson, Maria Galvan, Miranda Kellum, Jarin Martin, Starla Mathis, Wes McMillan, Brenda Medina, Klarissa Mosley, Marqueta Mosley, and Mat Schrader. Producer of the production is Mary Sals-Lewis, director of the theater program at Jacksonville College.
