Bullard to compete in 16-3A

Bullard will face new opponents in the upcoming school year, competing in a bulked-up, sevenschool district 16 which loses Rusk, Athens and Brownsboro while keeping Chapel Hill.

Reg. II District 16-3A will consist of Bullard, Chapel Hill, Gilmer, Gladewater, Henderson, Kilgore, Longview Spring Hill

New Hope Baptist Church celebrates Black History

New Hope Baptist Church kicked off its monthlong celebration of Black History Month with a visit on Sunday.

On each Sunday in the month, the church will feature guest speakers, and on Feb. 26., the final Sunday of the month, the church will hold a Black History luncheon, starting at 12:30, where all are welcome.

The Bullard Chamber of Commerce decided to use its January Business in the Spotlight slot to honor one of its long-time supporters, in John Edgar. He is the first person the Chamber has chosen to honor in its monthly spot that typically showcases local businesses.

Bullard’s Future Farmers of America chapter’s annual student-labor auction last week raised a grand total of $29,651, roughly $4,500 higher than last year’s total.

Belles’ fund-raising efforts result in contest victory

In September, the Bullard Belles hosted a fundraiser through Bill McRae where the Bullard community test drove Lincoln vehicles. Every time a volunteer test drove a car, Lincoln’s donation total increased.

The proceeds from this fundraiser went towards helping the girls raise money to attend the Disney Dance Explosion in California this coming March.
